We lost a national treasure. This news devastated me this morning. Cokie Roberts brought a sophisticated sound and dignity to our politics when you heard her dulcets through the radio waves reporting the news or providing the political take for the day. She was the epitome of Washington DC - it’s classic resident and historian. Her intelligence, charm, wit, and, that she was often the only woman reporting in a room full of guys, showed her grit and tenacity to never be mansplained but to do the ‘splaining herself. For me it was her quality of speeches and speaking while delivering commencements - earning 30 honorary degrees. She was an inspiration to other women and men who pursued journalism, broadcasting, writing, and life well lived in Washington DC. Her voice was a gift. She will me missed. #rip #cokieroberts
